Hindus Are Our Brothers, They Have Nothing to Fear: Major Hafiz
BNP Vice Chairman Major (Retd.) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed Bir Bikram has said, 'The Indian government is provoking the Hindus of Bangladesh. They have brought them out onto the streets. Hindus are our brothers. We will protect them with our lives. They have no reason to be afraid.'
He made these remarks at a rally in Lalmohan, Bhola, commemorating the martyrs of the anti-discrimination movement and protesting the abductions, murders, false cases, and anarchy under Sheikh Hasina’s regime.
The event was held at Hafiz Uddin Avenue in Lalmohan.
Hafiz Uddin Ahmed mentioned that in 2001, some hooligans harassed Hindus in Lord Hardinge Union. At that time, the BNP was not in power; the caretaker government was in control. Even then, he instructed the Officer-in-Charge (OC) to arrest the culprits. They were punished under the Speedy Trial Act, with six of them receiving life sentences. However, the Awami League spread misinformation worldwide, claiming that Major Hafiz had oppressed and tortured Hindus. Therefore, be cautious of this vile party, the Awami League.
Addressing Sheikh Hasina, Major (Retd.) Hafiz Uddin said, 'Just as Allah sent Ababil birds to destroy the tyrant king Abraha of Yemen, the youth and professionals of Bangladesh have given a fitting lesson to the tyrannical government and the notorious Awami League. Today, it has become clear that unarmed students are the greatest warriors.'
The meeting was presided over by Upazila BNP Convener Taharat Hafiz and was attended by Central BNP member and District BNP Convener Golam Nabi Alamgir, President of the Bangladesh Nationalist Freedom Fighters’ Party Ishtiaq Aziz, General Secretary Sadeq Ahmed Khan, District BNP Member Secretary Raisul Alam Khan, and Upazila BNP Member Secretary Shafiqul Islam, among others.
Hafiz Uddin further stated that the Awami League has destroyed the judicial system. They came to power without votes and have treated the country like their father’s property. There is no justice in the country, only money and extortion. They have siphoned off millions of taka through the recruitment of night guards and peons. BNP leaders and activists, who have been falsely accused in fabricated cases and are victims of the Awami League's oppression, are now driving rickshaws in Dhaka and Chattogram and working in shops. They have been living inhuman lives for the past 16 years.
Praising Dr. Yunus, Major (Retd.) Hafiz advised BNP leaders and activists, 'Do not be greedy. There will be no extortion, and you should not allow any extortion. Live a simple life by engaging in business and work. Ensure that businessmen can carry out their activities without hindrance. Do not oppress the Hindu community or the Awami League. Those who have committed oppression will be brought to justice.
